Flights of Fancy is inspiring and uplifting. I just finished reading Dawn Huffaker's book of poetry. I thoroughly enjoyed her descriptions of the cycles of nature and the insights into her own subjective experiences in life. The nature that Ms. Huffaker describes is located in the mountains of southwest New Mexico. I think of the cinematography from the Breaking Bad series when I read Dawn's work. She's a talented poet and sensitive to context both within and without her body. In addition to nature, Dawn also explores a range of subtle emotions that describe her own personal development at various phases in life. The themes addressed in her work cover sports, God and computers (her passions). I was most entranced with the poems about the change in seasons in her SW location of the US. Wonderfully written. The imagery brings the poems to life. The language allows me to feel the author's emotions. I recommend it for anyone of any age.
I liked this children's book very much because the author used pictures to drive home her point. Teachable, learning enhanced.
I love these poems. It appears Dawn can use any word and create a beautiful poem. These poems highlighted her love and appreciation for God's creation. As an educator, I believe all age group would enjoy these poems. I would also say Dawn is poet goddess.
Flights of Fancy is a beautiful collection of poems and pictures which grasp your attention and drift you into the pleasures of nature and your surroundings. It's a nice book to sit and relax with.
The language brings you in touch with the author's emotions and is suitable for all ages.
Dawn Huffaker the author of these works may be physically handicapped,but it has not prevented her from writing these wonderful unique series of poetry.
There are some little jewels amongst them,you will keep turning the pages to find more of them.
I enjoyed reading this short series of poems and stories.
As a lover of prose and nature this work appealed to me. I enjoy poetry and the illustrations added to easy read. Some poetry can be nard to understand, this work deals with things that even a child would love and grasp while still relating well to an adult, especially one who is inspired by the seasons, trees and life. The poetry of nature itself, all is beautiful.
A wonderful book of selected poems that are about nature, life, and spirituality. Some of them caused me to do some thinking and meditating about various issues. Others brought happy memories from childhood to various experiences as an adult...memories of my grandfather's beautiful garden, being on a beach, or walking through the Colorado mountains.
You have a definite gift to share deeply in such few words.
